GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- - One of the highest altitude drag strips in the country, the Western Colorado Dragway, celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 14 and 15.
The celebration featured invitational racing and exhibition stock car races, amongst other things. Children under 12 years old got into the event free because enthusiasts say they want to spread the tradition. "It's about bringing your family out, enjoying that with friends, your extended family, then racer to racer you end up being deep rooted friends at the track," said Eric Madson, a board member of the Western Colorado Dragway.
The race was the biggest in the track's history, with a $30,000 prize.
