Update: Police say the girl and her mother were found safe somewhere in Colorado, but are not giving specifics about where exactly they were found.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing girl out of Brighton.

Below is the news release sent out by the Brighton Police Department:

Brighton police are asking for help from the public locating a missing mother from New Mexico and her infant daughter.

The girl, 18-month-old Madilynn Ronquillo, was last seen with her mother, 28-year-old Brittany Claudine Martinez of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Brittany Martinez is believed to be driving a gray 2010 Toyota Corolla with New Mexico license plates LRW 802; the vehicle has a dent in the trunk and ‘Hello Kitty' stickers in the rear windows. Brittany Martinez is approximately 5' 04", weighs 140 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Martinez is not a suspect in any crime, but has left messages with relatives indicating she may be emotionally distraught, causing concern for her child's safety. Anyone who sees Brittany Martinez, Madilynn Ronquillo, or the gray Corolla should call 9-1-1 immediately. Anyone with information that could help police locate Madilynn Ronquillo is asked to call Detective Michael Payne at 303-655- 2367.
