GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Grand Opening of the Las Colonias Park Amphitheater is less than two months away, July 6th, but before the gates open, the City of Grand Junction is makes a move on its management.
"What we've decided on is a two-tiered system where city staff will manage the day-to-day operations and some of the local artists."
But when it comes to bringing the big fish to our small pond, Caton says, they're looking to a familiar partner.
"The City has chosen is to manage the nationally touring, ticketing concerts and those sorts of acts out at the Las Colonias Amphitheater." said Maria Rainsdon, the General Manager of Two Rivers Conventions Center and The Avalon Theater for Pinnacle Venue services.
In January, Pinnacle took over management of Two Rivers and the Avalon, and Caton thinks, for bigger acts, this fits into their niche.
"They've performed extremely well and they're building the foundation," said Caton, " They've started booking into 2018 and 2019."
Pinnacle plans to host 5-6 events in the summer of 2017 with 10-12 expected for 2018. The big dates Rainsdon has on her calendar is July 11th, August 7th, and September 1st as the big dates, but the acts won't be announced until Wednesday, May 24th.
