Botanical Gardens' New Stage Dedicated to Chris Motz

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-A special ceremony was held Wednesday to dedicate a new stage at the Western Botanical Gardens.

The stage was built in honor of Chris Motz, who tragically died during the construction phase of the stage.

The plaque dedication ceremony acknowledged Chris Motz and all the businesses and individuals who made the stage possible.

Thanks to a $50,000 donation by Chris Motz's brother, Greg of Sun King Constuction, the stage was built at a fraction of the cost.

Those behind the construction of the stage say it's purpose is to various events, wedings, and celebrations at the Botanical Gardens.

Greg Motz says that the dedication of the stage to his brother humbles him and his family.

"In his memory, because he was a big supporter of this. With STRIVE'S very gracious and kind offer to do a dedication to Chris, we said wonderful. He would really appreciate that, the Motz family will appreciate that, his family would appreciate that," says Greg Motz.

The Motz family has a rich history in the Grand Valley, as they moved here in 1904.

The stage is now open to the public at the Botanical Gardens and can host various events.
