GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-People are not only celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, but record stores around the nation are celebrating the 10th Annual National Record Store Day.
Those with our local record store, Triple Play Records, will be holding their own celebration downtown.
The General Manager of Triple Play, Matthew Cesario, says that Record Store Day is all about the costumers.
He says Triple Play will have hundreds of special releases that you cannot find anywhere else.
Everything from albums never released in the U.S., limited edition runs and special releases.
From artists like the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and more.
Cesario believes that records have surged in popularity in the past years as they're a type of music consumption that has proven the test of time.
"It's a lot more tangible media than mp3, says Cesario."
"You can actually see the artwork, look at they lyrics, see who plays on whose albums. It's also a great way to get into what kind of music your parents were in to, or your grand parents. It's not just about the new releases coming out on vinyl," adds Cesario.
Triple Play will be open from 10 a.m. to six in the evening Saturday.
Store employees say that they'll be giving away prizes with every purchase, to ensure that everyone will go away happy.
