GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-The marijuana business is steadily growing in the state of Colorado.
In fact, according to Fortune.com, Colorado saw over $1-billion in legal marijuana sales in 2016.
On a day to celebrate all things marijuana, people on the Western Slope are celebrating their freedom of choice to smoke it as well.
Mad Max's Smoke Shop held their third annual 420 celebration today.
The owner of the shop said this is their biggest celebration yet.
People lined up outside the store for a chance to win door prizes.
Local businesses selling anything from food to art and locally found mineral rocks were in attendance.
The owner says that today was all about celebrating local businesses and the freedom of choice Americans have.
"It's about freedom, to me," says Max Sterling, Owner of Mad Max's Smoke Shop.
"It's about peoples choices of what they want to do and alternatives to alcohol and things like that. As well as we're celebrating art today, it's also about art and the glass blowing. Shop local and support your local businesses, that's really what it's all about," adds Sterling.
For those of you who don't know, 420 is known as the marijuana friendly holiday.
Its a day the plant is nationally celebrated.
