Congressional Candidate Visits Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - One Western Slope man stopped by Grand Junction to announce his candidacy to challenge Congressman Scott Tipton.

City Attorney for Glenwood Springs, Karl Hanlon, has launched his campaign. He's a democrat running for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, a seat currently held by republican Scott Tipton.

On Tuesday, he stopped by a Grand Junction coffee shop to talk with people about his plans for office.

"I've had an entire career of working hard and accomplishing goals for people from the ground up. That's really different from some career politicians, where they know how to legislate but they don't actually get anything done," said Hanlon.

Some key issues that Hanlon is concerned with include health care costs, energy and the environment, as well as taking action with opioid addiction and the mental health crisis.

Tuesday's stop was the first of many district tours over the next six months. He'll be stopping in both Craig and Glenwood Springs on Wednesday, December 6.
