GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - For the first time in the last decade, all 2,800 staff members were brought together in one place.
District 51 Superintendent Ken Haptonstall welcomed back staff as he shared plans to help implement the districts new performance based learning model.
"We have kids in schools now. They deserve us to do our best by them. I've been talking to board members, our leadership, and people outside of our school district about ramping this up. We are going to move our resources over to make sure this happens," said Haptonstall.
Administrators say the D51 learning model provides clear expectations and demonstrations of learning so students are ready to tackle new and challenging topics at their own pace.
All District 51 schools will be back in session starting Wednesday, August 16.
