GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- - Freddy's Frozen Custard donated $467 dollars to Wings-And-Warriors on July 11.
Wings-And-Warriors is a foundation dedicated to helping Veterans with PTSD or TBI''s (Traumatic Brain Injuries) by pairing them with service dogs specially trained to meet their needs. Those with Wings-And-Warriors said the Veterans form a bond with the dogs and can help reduce anxiety. "Korean Vets, Vietnam Vets, and World War II Vets are the ones that are committing suicide [with the highest numbers]. And so, with this dog we are hoping to prevent this from happening," said Karen Gallegos, a Western Slope Wings-And-Warriors board member.
The money was raised by guests of Freddy's Frozen Custard that donated to the organization. "$467 dollars all due to the generosity of our guests coming in and putting their spare change in the donation box that we have at every location," said Doug Drum, the general manager of Freddy's.
Wings-And-Warriors will be hosting their third annual Recognition Ride on August 12, starting in Franktown and heading toward Florrisant. To find out more, visit http://www.wings-and-warriors.org/.
