Colo. - President Donald Trump traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday, where he signed proclamations shrinking the size of two National Monuments in the state.
At a ceremony at the State Capitol, Mr. Trump reduced the size of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante monuments by a total of around 2 million acres.
In response to the change Gov. John Hickenlooper released the following statement: “Preserving and expanding our national monuments is keeping in the best traditions of our country. In Colorado, we value our lands because they are part of our fabric and they strengthen local economies. We hope our leaders can find a way to let monuments remain and return their focus to more pressing issues facing our country.”
