Grand Junction Fire Department is Helping Fight Boulder Wildfire

BOULDER, Colo. - The Grand Junction Fire Department has sent Brush Fire 4 Engine to Boulder to help combat the wild fire.

More than 400 homes in Boulder were evacuated before dawn on Sunday, due to the wildfire burning near Sunshine Canyon.

Another 830 homes are on pre-evacuation notice according to the Boulder Office of Emergency Management.

The fire is burning near the Seven Hills subdivision and is 62 acres in size.  The mandatory evacuation order will remain in place through the night.

At 12:45 pm, the fire was roughly 20% contained according to the BOEM.   The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is providing temporary shelter for dogs, cats, and small animals of people affected by the fires.

There have been no reports of injuries, or damage to buildings or houses.
