Grand Junction Man Arrested for Sex Crimes Against Children

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A man once paid to work with our detained youth, is now behind bars himself, charged with a number of child sex crimes.

Brian Matthew Tate, 30, formerly worked for the for the Grand Mesa Youth Services Center but was terminated after two incarcerated youth girls reported he sexually abused them.

The Colorado Division of Youth Services is cooperating with the investigation and has offered counseling to the youth involved.

Tate is facing multiple charges including:

- Three counts of Sexual Assault on a Child in a Position of Trust.

- Three counts of Sexual Assault on a Child in a Pattern of Abuse.

- Six counts of First Degree Official Misconduct.

Tate is currently being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on a no bond hold until his first court appearance.  The case is still under investigation.
