Hundreds Join Law Enforcement for the Annual Bowl with a Cop Event

Annual Bowl with a Cop Event

MESA COUNTY, Colo. - Around 300 Grand Valley kids took to Orchard Mesa Lanes on Thursday to bowl with a cop.

The annual event offered attendees the chance to bowl with Police Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department and Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol.
The get together has been ongoing for more than 20 years, and it's an opportunity that allows authorities to show they too are real people to those kids whose families may not have had the best experience with them in the past.
"People often see police when they are showing up to take someone to jail or they see us at crashes or see us working all the time. This event is to let them see that we're normal people we can bowl just as bad as they can" said Officer David Keech with the Grand Junction Police Department.

The bowl with a cop event is just one of many events our local law enforcement participate in throughout the year.

Others include "touch a truck" as well as "shop with a cop."
