Kids Get Creative in the Kitchen for the Holidays

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Some local kids are gaining some serious skills in the kitchen, all while giving back to the community.

Kim Wise with Wise Cooking Lessons is starting a new tradition for the holidays.

"They all volunteered to come out here. Thanks so much kids. We're making turkey dinners for people in the valley who could use our help," said Wise.

She opened up her business two years ago, with the intention of teaching kids how to cook a balanced meal. However, her lessons go far beyond the kitchen.

"I really try to talk to kids about life," said Wise.

In doing so, she's inspired these kids to give back to those in need.

"I really wanted to help people because they've really helped me in this community," said 10-Year-Old Sophia Ortiz.

"I feel like my hearts warm because I'm making meals for all these families," said 10-Year-Old Ellie Ortiz.

The kids helped prepare roasted turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and even pumpkin pies.

"It's blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, some flour, a little bit of sugar, and ginger I think," said 8-Year- Old Xavier Marks.

If you're interested in signing up your little ones for some cooking lessons, you can find more information on their website.
