GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Hundreds joined together Wednesday evening to prepare nearly 2,000 meals for those in need.
The Canyonview Vineyard Church hosted their 11th annual thanksgiving meal preparation event.
Five stations were set up around the church, where volunteers packed up boxes of food, that was donated from agencies around the valley.
Those who receive one of the meals will have a serving of turkey, mash potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, a roll of bread, as well as a pie.
Donations will be handed to the elderly who have difficulties getting around, shut-ins, people who are recovering from surgery, and those who have difficulty getting around the valley.
"So we want to go out and get a meal out, spend some time with some people, so that we know everybody gets fed, but we want everyone to be included in our community. This is such a fantastic outpouring of generosity from so many places around the community that we want everyone to be involved with it as well" said Bryan Reed, Outreach Specialist of Canyonview Vineyard Church.
If you would like to volunteer to hand out meals Thursday morning, you can go to the Canyonview Vineyard Church at 736 24 1/2 road at 10 a.m.
