Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal Shooting Case

Alexander Fedak guilty of criminally negligent homicide in death of Shandie Case

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A man accused in the death of his common-law wife entered a guilty plea on Monday, exactly one week after he skipped out on his originally scheduled plea hearing.

Authorities said Alexander Fedak pulled a no-show during a court hearing on January 22, with the judge saying GPS activity showed Fedak to be in Aurora.

Mesa County court officials say he is now in custody, with Fedak pleading guilty on Monday morning to criminally negligent homicide.

He claims he was not trying to shoot Shandie Case on November 6, 2016, but accidentally hit her while aiming for a man with whom he was involved in a dispute.

A request by defense attorneys for bond modification was denied.

A sentencing hearing for Fedak is scheduled for March 23.
