GRAND JUNCTION, CO - A tradition for Grand Valley Firefighters returns. The Local 2808 Professional Firefighters Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) "Fill the Boot Drive" has been put on by our local firefighters for over that last 60 years and it's back this holiday weekend.
Nearly 100 firefighters spread out and hit Grand Junction storefronts asking customers to make a donation to MDA.
They're joining crews from all over the state and hope to raise more money than last year.
MDA helps those who have muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life threatening diseases.
You can find firefighters in all the City Markets and Sam's Club in Grand Junction.
Tomorrow is the last day for the fundraiser and it's when the firefighters thank those who have contributed and those it will benefit.
"We're having a family and volunteer appreciation BBQ here from 4 to 5 and we have families affected by those muscular diseases as well as other firefighters, our families, some city administration will be here so it's just a great day to come out and show our appreciation for those affected as well as those out here helping raise money," said Sean Hazelhurst, Firefighter.
The BBQ celebration in honor of the fundraiser will take place at the City Market on 2600 N. 12th. St. Grand Junction CO, 81501.
