GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Museums of Western Colorado are now featuring a collection of guns - one for each sheriff who has served in Mesa County.
With firearms dating back to 1884, museum officials are excited to announce they will be adding two more to the collection.
These firearms will be from sheriff Matt Lewis and former sheriff Rebecca Spies.
Officials say a step into this exhibit will be sure to take you back in time.
"The different firearms and technology are markers in history of what happened and what people were using at that particular time. We have the earliest marshal which is fairly primitive, and now we have the glock pistols that the Sheriff Department uses now," said David Bailey, Curator of History at the Museums of Western Colorado.
The Mesa County Sheriff's firearms collection is on permanent display at Museum of the West, located on 4th and Ute in downtown Grand Junction.
