GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office helped reunite a woman with her late father on Thursday.
21-year-old Sarah O. (who wanted to partially protect her identity) said she had placed an urn containing her father's ashes in the center console of her car while moving last November. But when she went to retrieve the item, it was gone.
On Monday her friends saw a Facebook post from the sheriff's office showing the agency had retrieved a keepsake urn that was found among stolen property.
Sheriff's officials had discovered the urn on November 3rd but were unable to find the rightful owner, so they finally “turned to the public and the power of social media.”
Sarah was located in a matter of hours. She expressed her gratitude on Thursday, saying she never expected to see the urn again.
