GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Entering the new year, one local organization wants to keep its ship afloat.
The Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program and the group, RSVP, hosted their first monthly Medicare 101 of the year --a free educational seminar for people who are aging into Medicare.
The people who participated got some pointers on Medicare's Part A and B, hospitalization and drug plans, Medicare fraud, and supplemental programs.
The seminar is all volunteer-based and the non-profit is supported by donations and grants.
It's predicted that by 2020, 10,000 people will age into Medicare coverage every day.
"People know a little bit more about their Medicare and they can save money. They might be able to afford it and people to pay for their drugs and and pay for their food too. So we know where to apply for help and when you can apply for help, the parameters, so we screen people."
