School District 51 Donates 64 Chromebooks to Local Schools

It's Never too Early to Start Planning for the Future of Education

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - West Middle School and Central High School students received an early Christmas present today.

A total of 64 units of Google Chromebooks were donated by District 51 to help reinforce their students learning capabilities.

The Chromebooks come in a portable charging and locking safe.

"This generous donation was also made in honor of the Western Colorado Community Foundation along with the District 51 Foundation having pooled resources to present Chromebooks to West Middle School and also Central High School, so today they're making that presentation and it's a pretty exciting time", says Steve Schultz, former Superintendent of District 51 Schools Foundation.

"We like them", says one student, Makayla Mai Dao, with a 'thumbs up.'

Students, teachers, and principals shared how they've been able to utilize this new technology, along with their plans for the future.

One of School District 51's funding priorities for the 2017 year centers around the idea that, "it's never too early to start planning for the future."
