GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -
Authorities have confirmed that what was once reported as shooting in a neighborhood near Bookcliff Middle School, was not actually a shooting.
At approximately 9:02 in the morning, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office responded to reports that shots had been fired on 29 and 1/2 Road.
Due to how close Bookcliff Middle School is to the neighborhood, a shelter-in-place was ordered at the school as a precaution.
When on scene deputies found no injuries or evidence that a shooting took place.
According to a witness on scene, a white older model of a car stopped in front of a home, and a man with a bandana over his face got out and pointed a gun down the road. He allegedly then chased another man around, and then the man with the bandana over his face got back into the car and drove away.
The MCSO said there are conflicting witness reports as to whether any shots were actually fired and the vehicles description.
Deputies are searching for the man described by the witness who said he had short hair, was wearing dark clothing with a bandana..
