Silt Crash Claims the Lives of Two Young Men

SILT, Colo.- - An automobile versus motorcycle accident leaves two young Rifle men dead.

The incident happened Monday, March 20th just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of First and Main Streets in Silt.

The crash involved two motorcycles and a ford explorer, and authorities say both motorcyclists, Nathan Russo, 22, and Eduardo medrano, 22, have died while the driver of the automobile did not suffer any injuries.

Russo died on scene and an autopsy conducted by the Garfield County Coroners Office revealed his cause of death was blunt force injuries.

Medrano was transported from the scene to an area hospital where he was pronounced brain dead the next day.

Neither Russo or Medrano were reported to have been wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

Silt Police Officers are currently investigating the crash and say impairment is not being considered as a factor.
