Stolen 'General Lee' Snow Cat Recovered During Law Enforcement Confrontation

Dozens of homes in shelter-in-place during Sunday night incident

MESA COUNTY, Colo. - A snow cat stolen in Eagle County is recovered during a police confrontation in Mesa County this weekend.

On Sunday evening, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Eagle County Sheriff's Office about the possible location of the vehicle, painted to resemble the 'General Lee' Dodge Charger from the 80s TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard”, that was taken from Minturn earlier in the morning.

Authorities said when deputies tried to contact Jason Cuervo, 27, at a home in the 1800 block of Deer Park Circle, he did not follow commands and barricaded himself inside.

A community notification went out to 55 residences in the surrounding community to shelter-in-place, while the MCSO and Grand Junction Police Department SWAT Teams dealt with the situation.

Cuervo was not apprehended, but the stolen snow cat was discovered along with weapons, ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Officials said Cuervo has several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He is described as a white male, 180 pounds, and  6'1" tall.
