Suspect Caught in Denver after Delta Shooting Incident

Delta Shooting Incident Leads to Arrest in Denver

DELTA COUNTY, Colo. - A man is arrested on the Front Range after a shooting incident in Delta County.

News Channel Five spoke with Sheriff Fred McKee, who said it started on the morning of January 8 around 9, when deputies responded to a family disturbance call from north of Cedaredge.

According to Sheriff McKee, the suspect in the case is 21-year-old Donovan Jay Sinka, who apparently became angry, got into his vehicle, and fired a gun. Right now, Sheriff McKee said he's unable to say what or who was being shot at by Sinka.

A Colorado State Trooper happened to live in the area and shots went near his house, according to Sheriff McKee. Investigators have not determined if the house was a target, or if Sinka was randomly shooting.

Sinka is now in custody after being arrested in Denver around 5 in the morning on January 9. He was arrested on suspicion of prohibited use of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a previous offender, felony menacing, reckless endangerment, and shooting from a roadway.
