Suspect Identified in Alleged Grocery Store Homicide

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Just after midnight early Saturday the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the City Market off of Highway 50 in Orchard Mesa where two women had been discovered shot.

One of the victim's, whose identity has not been released, was the one to call 911 and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other victim died from what the Coroner reports was a gun shot wound to the head. She was identified as 17-year-old Kiera Quintana of Whitewater.

The case has been ruled a homicide.

Authorities did track down the suspected assailant and arrest him. He is identified as 20-year-old Israel Jerome Messingill. He's being held at the Mesa County Jail with charges pending.
