Two Accused of Theft, Tax Fraud for Alleged Scheme Targeting Garfield County Ranch

Couple arrested for alleged crimes involving hundreds of thousands of dollars

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. - Two people stand accused of theft and tax fraud following a lengthy investigation in Garfield County.

Authorities say Charles Farris and his wife, Charla Farris, were taken into custody after a warrant was executed on Tuesday at a home in Silt.

Officials say the warrant was the result of an eight month investigation by the Garfield County Sheriff's Office into allegations of theft and embezzlement of money, livestock, and farm and ranch equipment from the Bear Wallow Ranch outside of Glenwood Springs.

Investigators say the alleged thefts happened over the course of many years, reaching into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Officials say the investigation is still ongoing.
