Brooke Hodgson represented her hometown of Rio Rancho, New Mexico when CMU softball hosted its season opening invitational tournament last weekend at her alma mater Cleveland High School.
The senior earned this week's RMAC Player of the Week honors leading the invitational in several categories including a .667 batting average and 14 hits. Hodgson went 5-for-5 in the opener against Western New Mexico as the Mavs scored a school record 25 runs. She produced the game winning RBI over St. Mary's in the final game of the invitational and also saw action in the circle with a win against Western New Mexico and a save against Metro State.
Catcher Zoe Pakes was named the Fastpitch News' Division II Player of the Week. She was 11-for-18 at the plate with a tournament best 12 RBI's. Pakes had two home runs and three doubles.
The Mavericks get back to action this Thursday at the Dixie State Easton Classic in St. George, Utah. They'll play five games over the course of three days.
