Colorado Mesa softball has won eight games in a row, seven of those by the mercy rule. During the streak, CMU has outscored their opponents 75 to 9.

The Mavericks will look to continue their win streak when they host two doubleheaders against UCCS Saturday and Sunday. The Mavericks are 16-4 this season and 9-2 in the RMAC and the Mountain Lions are 3-14 and 2-10 in the RMAC.

While the teams have differing records so far this season, CMU is not taking the Mountain Lions lightly.

"UCCS is a better team than their record," said head coach Ben Garcia. "We really know that they are going to be a pretty good opponent so we're looking forward to facing a little bit tougher competition and see what we can do."

"Just as a pitcher, making sure we keep those down, keep the hits down," said pitcher McKenzie Surface. "I know our hitting is going to come through like they always do."

"We play to the best of our abilities and we just don't let things phase us," said infielder AnnMarie Torres. "We are trying to play to our capacity, not other team's."

CMU and UCCS are scheduled to begin their games at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
