CMU Softball Wins Two More

The Colorado Mesa Softball team won both games of their doubleheader, 9-1 and 12-4, against UCCS on Saturday.

Both games were finished in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule. CMU has now won ten straight games and nine of those ten by the mercy rule.

In game one, Brooke Hodgson hit a two-run home run and also an RBI double to lead the Mavericks with three RBI's. Hodgson leads CMU with eight home runs and 30 RBI's this season. McKenzie Surface shut down the Mountain Lions from the circle, earning her tenth win of the season. Surface threw five innings, giving up one run on two hits while striking out five.

The Mavericks hot hitting continued into the first inning of game two with CMU scoring five runs in the first. Kaila Jacobi and Kellie Mrofcza both hit home runs for the Mavs. Jacobi had four RBI's while Mrofcza and Baylee Boren each had two.

CMU will try to continue their win streak on Sunday as they play another doubleheader against UCCS.
