Facing #8 Colorado Mines, the Colorado Mesa women's soccer team lost to the Orediggers 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Walker Field.
Mines led 1-0 at halftime, then scored the first two goals of the second half. In the 77th minute, Hannah Naftanel scored her first goal of the season on a free kick.
Sunday's loss was the Mavericks second in a row after losing to Colorado Christian 1-0 on Friday. After two straight losses, CMU head coach Jason Clare is looking for more passion from his team.
"I just didn't feel we played our way at all this weekend to be honest," said Clare. "Against a team like Mines, they're going to punish you, and that's what they did today. They never take their foot off the gas and we got punished. I don't think we showed enough desire and passion today to warrant that win."
Next for the Mavericks is a trip to Fort Lewis on Friday.
