Valley baseball teams were less than stellar during day 2 of the 2018 Bill Fanning Memorial Classic.
Grand Junction battled back from a five-run deficit in the 5th but eventually lost to the Rampart Rams 14-7 Friday afternoon. Michael Bishop and Brandon White contributed to the run total for the Rams.
The Horizon Hawks kept pressure on Fruita pitching and held on for a 9-6 win over the Wildcats. Braxton Antonelli helped drive in runs for the Hawks, and Justin Moehlenpah's pitching secured the win.
The Rock Canyon Jaguars dominated Grand Junction Central in the first matchup of the day, blanking the Warriors 10-0 in a five-inning mercy.
The third day of the classic will begin with Palisade against Horizon at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Rock Canyon Jaguars play Grand Junction later in the day, with Fruita versus Rampart serving as the Fanning Classic finale.
