Three more Western Slope high school athletes will have the chance to continue their athletic careers into college as the Central Warriors held their fall signing day Thursday.
Ivory Espinosa will take her running talents to the cross country team at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Jordyn Hays will continue her softball career in Grand Junction for Ben Garcia's team at Colorado Mesa. Hays will face her sister when the Mavericks play at the Adams State Grizzlies. Hays' teammate, Hailey Schaneman, committed to play at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado.
"I knew that I wanted to be more competitive and compete with some of the top girls, so this summer I put in about 900 miles to get to where I am," said Espinosa. "So, I just knew I wanted to do this for the future."
"I'm going to have to earn my spot, but I hope I play because one of the big reasons I stayed in the RMAC and going to Mesa is to play my sister," said Hays. "So, I'm really excited for that."
"I'm excited that I got to sign with my best friend," said Schaneman. "I didn't think that we'd sign together, but we did, so it's exciting."
