Maverick Seniors Soar, Men Fall Short Despite Buzzer Beater

The Colorado Mesa men's basketball hit a game-tying 3-point shot with no time left in regulation against Ft. Lewis, but ultimately fell in their home finale at Brownson Arena Saturday night, 94-89.

On senior night, senior C. J. Davis banked a desperation 19-foot shot for the Mavericks (11-14, 7-12 RMAC) to send the game to overtime. Mesa lead by as many as four in the overtime frame but eventually lost.

The #14th ranked Fort Lewis (21-3, 17-2 RMAC) Skyhawks survived disaster at Brownson, and avoided what would have been their 4th loss of the season.

The Maverick women rolled over the Lady Nighthawks, 66-52 in dominating fashion.

Seniors Erin Reichle and Ma'ata Epenisa combined for 36 points in the win. The Mavs were up 45-18 at halftime, and shot 55% from 3 point line.

The Mavericks now head away for their final three contests, beginning with Black Hills State on Saturday night (2/17).
