After two players on the CMU men's soccer team nabbed All-American honors, a pair on the CMU football team followed suit.
Senior defensive end Blake Nelson and senior offensive lineman Austin Fleer earned the honors to the Division II American Football Coaches Association teams. Nelson was a first team selection and the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year. He finished the season with 81 tackles, seven sacks, and a nation best four blocked kicks.
On the other side of the ball, Fleer was named to the second team. Fleer anchored the nation's eighth best rushing offense as the Mavericks averaged 257 yards on the ground and another 231 through the air per game.
