The playoffs are here for the upper levels of high school football. The 3A first round kicks off Friday night at Stocker Stadium when Palisade hosts Discovery Canyon.
The Bulldogs entered this season needing to replace their top passer and three of their top four rushers from last year. This year, led by the emergence of running back Terrence Williams and quarterback Cameron Tucker, and another season of more than 1,400 all-purpose yards for Austin Bernal, the Bulldogs came away with another league title in 2017.
Now the Bulldogs are hoping their regular season bonding translates to success in the playoffs.
"Coming together as a team and losing the people that we have, they're a loss, but I think we've come together a lot and bonded better as a family because of it," said sophomore kicker Ben Sargent.
"We're really young, but at some point we knew we were going to have to come of age," said sophomore quarterback Cameron Tucker. "It's just been a really good team year. Every victory we've had has been a team win. It's just been everybody doing their job, everybody maturing up, and it's been really good so far."
Palisade and Discovery Canyon kickoff their first round game Friday night at 7 o'clock at Stocker Stadium.
