As the JUCO World Series approaches in just a handful of days, students from around the Grand Valley are turning in the backpacks for baseballs.
Thursday, students at Dual Immersion Academy received a ticket to attend a JUCO opening weekend game. The ticket giveaway is thanks to Hilltop. The organization has been giving a free ticket to every District 51 student for around a decade now. Hilltop CEO and avid JUCO fan Mike Stahl said it's a great tradition in Grand Junction that Hilltop likes to be a part of in some way.
"It's absolutely great," said Stahl. "Hilltop is all about creating opportunities and enriching lives, and giving tickets to kids gives them a chance to really connect with this community."
First pitch of the 2017 JUCO World Series is thrown out on Saturday, May 27.
