Friday Night Frenzy: Week Two
The Fruita Monument Wildcats ran over the Grand Junction Tigers to a 30-7 win at Stocker Stadium Friday night. The Grand Junction Tigers drew first blood going up 7-0 before the Wildcats put up 30 unanswered points. The run started with a Zach Rush rushing touchdown. The score marked the quarterback's fifth rushing TD of the season. Treyton Queen put the Wildcats up 14-7 before half time as he also ran in for a score. Braeden Grahm extended Fruita's lead to 20-7 on the team's first drive of the second half. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 3-0.
After a loss to Montrose last week, the Rifle Bears looked to go a game above .500 on Friday night. The Bears jumped out to an early lead over the Florence Huskies. Tanner Vines ran for the Bears' first three touchdowns to go up 19-0. Rifle led 27-0 before the half and continued to dominate after. They'd go on to shut out the Huskies 40-0 to improve to 2-1.
