Wildcats Have Chance to Clinch League

The Fruita Monument Wildcats have a chance to clinch a Southwestern league title with a win Friday night.

This would make a three-peat for the Wildcats who head to Montrose for game two of the season series.  On Monday, junior Trey Morrill threw a perfect game against the Indians en route to a 10-0 mercy rule win for Fruita. Come Friday, the Wildcats know from experience, league titles aren't the final destination.

"Everything's important, but nothing's too special," said Morrill.  "We just have to go out there and do our job and try to get the dub, and if we don't, we move on and get another dub in Durango."

"The end result is not just winning a league,"said Head Coach Ray McLennan.  "The end result is doing the best that we can and getting as far in the playoffs as we can.  This is just a stepping stone towards that."

Montrose had won 10 out of their last 11 games, but has since lost two straight.  Frist pitch is Friday at 6 p.m. at Montrose High School.
