The Colorado Mesa softball team won two more games against UCCS on Sunday, 10-2 and 8-0.
With the mercy wins, CMU has won 12 games in a row, with 11 of those by the mercy rule. In the first game, UCCS lead 2-0 after two and a half innings, but those were the only runs UCCS would score all day. Brooke Hodgson had five runs batted in for the Mavericks, including a three-run home run. It took six innings, but CMU won game one by the mercy rule 10-2.
The Mavericks shutout the Mountain Lions in game two, winning by an 8-0 mercy in five innings. Kimbri Herring pitched all five innings, giving up three hits and striking out six. Hailey Hinson hit the first home run of her CMU career, a three-run homer in the second. AnnMarie Torres also had three RBI for the Mavericks.
During their 12-game win streak, the Mavs have outscored their opponents 114 to 16. After their 12 straight wins at home, CMU now goes on an eight-game road trip beginning next weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Colorado School of Mines.
