GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The City of Grand junction has been undergoing a massive replacement project of 7th Street between North Ave and Patterson Road.

Recently, motorists might have realized the construction zone has been looking a little empty, as crews haven’t been seen working for a number of days.

In regards to budget, the 7th and Walnut construction project is on target, but when it comes to time, the project has fallen behind.

Part of the project includes undergrounding electric lines to the north of 7th Street, which will be done by Xcel energy.

Xcel has been delayed by a lack of resources and crews available on the western slope, as well as the delay of various electrical projects throughout town.

Once Xcel completes the underground portion of the project, the City of Grand Junction Public Works can finish it up.

The original date of completion was set for the end of August.

Grand Junction Public Works urges you to still visit businesses along the corridor, pay attention to cone zones, and allow a few extra minutes for travel.
