Chance Sticklen

Chance Sticklen is from Joplin, Missouri. He has one brother and two sisters. His passion for journalism stems from his childhood when he would watch the evening news and really wanted to be like the people he saw on TV. Chance’s high school had a YouTube account run by the student media production class, where he hosted a show with other students. Chance also put together highlight reels for his fellow classmates. He has always enjoyed telling the stories of his community.

In May 2021, Chance graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.A. in Communications. While in college, he was a part of the local NBC affiliate, KOMU, which gave students hands on experience before their first job.

Chance moved to Grand Junction in June 2021 to become a News Anchor and Reporter. Because he is new to Colorado, Chance has never skied before, but plans on getting on the slopes sometime! He enjoys hanging out with his family, including his family’s two dogs, Phoebe and Rudy, cheering for the Missouri Tigers and learning new things every day.

In Chance’s free time, he enjoys exploring different parts of Colorado, watching Netflix, listening to music and hanging out with friends. Chance had an extensive amount of coverage of the I-70 closure because of all the mudslides in the summer of 2021. He has covered breaking news for the network, sometimes on tight deadlines.

You can join Chance on the weekdays for all of his reporting, as well as anchoring the weekend news.
