Chris Knoll is the morning Meteorologist for Wake-Up Western Slope and KREX 5 at Noon. He’s interested in all things weather as well as a wide variety of other nerd activities. He is open to trying everything once. He grew up in Herndon Virginia. While growing up Chris was a Boy Scout in Troop 913. On one of his scout camping trips he had a close-up encounter with a derecho storm. It was this encounter that sparked his interest in weather. In addition to scouts, he was also a trumpet player in both middle school and high school. Outside of band he participated in several sports teams at the school before settling on diving.
After high school Chris attended Florida State University in pursuit of a Bachelor’s of Science in Meteorology. While attending college he participated in a daily student run 30-minute weather broadcast called FSU Weather. He also studied abroad in the Republic of Panama in 2017.

At FSU he commentated numerous fighting game tournaments as a member of game committee. After graduating from Florida State, he started working at KREX 5/KFQX 4 in August 2020. During the wintertime he can be found falling down the slopes as he fails at snowboarding. Chris hopes to be a Chief Meteorologist someday.
