GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Colorado Department of Transportation is offering a free shuttle service to transport people across the sinkhole on Colorado Highway 133.
The CDOT shuttle will run from Paonia to Carbondale. The shuttle’s schedule includes morning departures from Paonia at 5 a.m., 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., and afternoon departures from Carbondale at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. The shuttle service will run today, May 26 and next week from Tuesday, May 30 to Friday, June 2.
The Paonia pickup location is in the Paonia State Park and the Carbondale location is at the RFTA Carbondale Park & Ride. CDOT will not be running the shuttle service on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day.
According to CDOT, contractor R.L. Wadsworth is preparing to place a temporary ridge on CO 133 at the sinkhole north of Paonia. The process reportedly normally takes four months, but crews are working around the clock to bring this bridge to Paonia as soon as possible.
