CDOT releases groundbreaking video for US 550—US 160 Connection South project

Colorado News

LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. – In lieu of an on-site, in-person gathering during COVID-19, the Colorado Department of Transportation produced a video to highlight the recent start of the US 550-US 160 Connection South project underway in south Durango, near Farmington Hill. In the 8.5-minute video, CDOT presents a brief overview that includes the project’s history, introduces key construction team members and project leaders, and provides details of construction features.

Currently, the $98.6 million, three season design-build project is focusing on construction of the 600-foot bridge over Gulch A, just south of the US 160 interchange (please refer to the project web site for a construction graphic and additional photos). The Gulch A bridge substructure will be under construction over the next several months, as will continued earthwork for the new US 550 alignment.
