DENVER– Colorado state Sen. Angela Williams says she will not seek re-election this year in her northeastern Denver district.
Williams is a Democrat and a statehouse veteran who has advocated for small businesses and for families struggling to afford the rising costs of health care and housing.
She was elected to the House in 2010 and to the Senate in 2016. Democratic State Rep. James Coleman of Denver has announced that he is seeking Williams’ seat. Williams says she doesn’t plan any immediate endorsement but encourages woman to consider elected office. She briefly entered the crowded Democratic race to challenge Republican Sen. Cory Gardner this year.
