DENVER– A Denver police officer is accused of sexually assaulting a woman that he met a month earlier while responding to a call for service. Police officials say 29-year-old Johnny Leon Alvarez was arrested early Friday.
A detective’s sworn statement says Alvarez began texting the woman after he responded to her call for police assistance in December. The statement says Alvarez entered her home early Friday after they went on a date. The statement says the woman tried to push him off of her and fled to the bathroom. A phone number listed under Alvarez’s name rang unanswered.
