Firefighter dies in building fall in Colorado ski community

Colorado News

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — A firefighter has died after falling from a condominium building in a Colorado ski community.

Forty-six-year-old Ken Jones had climbed to the roof of the five-story building in search of access to a fire early Saturday in Copper Mountain. It was the first death in the history of Summit Fire & EMS. Fire and EMS Chief Jeff Berino says in a statement the 20-year veteran of the fire department was known for his “quiet demeanor and can-do attitude.”

Foul play isn’t suspected but state and federal officials plan to investigate the cause of the fall as well as the fire.
