Man pulled from burning home in southwest Colorado dies

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) — A 39-year-old man who was pulled from a burning mobile home in southwest Colorado has died.

Firefighters found the man while extinguishing the blaze southeast of Durango on Wednesday evening. The victim, whose name has not been released, died at a hospital. A dog and a cat also died in the fire.

Fire marshal Karola Hanks tells The Durango Herald that two residents were outside at the time and told firefighters they believed someone was still inside. Hanks said 21 Durango firefighters, four engines and two medic units were involved in the response.

Investigators have not said what caused the fire, and no other information has been released.

An autopsy is planned in La Plata County this week.
