DENVER- Two new bills in the Colorado Legislature could add protections for mobile home park residents.
House Bill 1196 would protect residents from retaliation if they complain about park owner violations. It would provide protection against unwarranted evictions.
House Bill 1201 would outline a path to ownership of the land underneath mobile homes if a park owner decides to sell or redevelop land. This bill requires park owners to give residents a 90 day notice if a park is for sale or if they decide to redevelop the land. This would give time for residents to come together and find financing to make on offer. This bill also allows community members to give cities, counties, housing authorities, or nonprofits purchasing rights to parks that are up for sale.
